Charcoal collides with paper as I replicate his hair,
Untidy combination of light and dark.
Cheeky smirk, lovable, enigmatic, charming, jaunty.
Crooked jaw, a winningly perfect imperfection.
Lastly, the hours spent portraying the eyes,
Delicate curves and bends, with slight crinkles that suit the smile,
The grey-blue that, sadly, cannot be expressed through pencil...
But the characterizing glimmer of reflected light suffices.
The picture is displayed well -- his features are easily recognizable.
Yet the pencil point remains too dull to break the boundaries of his soul.
The paper might as well be blank.
