F. A. Q.

Is this an official site?
No. At this time, Dom does not have an official site.

Dear Dom…
Dom does not currently have a contact address for fans. Anything sent to the site with the intent of being forwarded to Dom will be deleted without response.

Who are you and why did you start a fansite?

This site was founded by Bobbi. From 2003 to 2005, she put in hours and hours of work weekly to build and maintain starDom. The site was left idle until 2007 when Meredith revived the site for a few months, long enough for starDom to get it’s second interview with Dom. In 2010, the site is being converted to WordPress under Bobbi’s direction.

Does Dom visit this site?
Actually, yes! According to Dom, he loves it and visits often. When Bobbi spoke with him at The One Ring Celebration, she handed him a printout of the site to autograph [picture] and he recognized it immediately! Dom was also nice enough to do an interview with us at Comic-Con 2004 as well as in April 2008 both of which can be found in the exclusives section.

Where did the name starDom come from?
Dom named it when he was on Loveline. It went a little something like this:
Adam: “Look at you now! You’ve taken your nerd-dom and spun it into a goldmine.”
Dom: “Star-dom.”
Ta-da! The clip is available for download in the audio section.

When did starDom open?
The ‘fansite4dom’ site and forum opened 14 January 2004. The forums grew in popularity faster than I ever imagined, and the limited amount of storage and bandwidth allowed by a free host wouldn’t be enough to meet the demand. On 03 March 2004 the domain dommonaghan.com was purchased. A host was found, and the site officially re-opened under the new name ‘starDom’ on 09 April 2004. Due to the increased popularity of the site, cost became a major issue so in April 2005, starDom moved to fan-sites.org.

How did you make the site?
The site is coded and edited using Macromedia Dreamweaver MX2004 and Notepad. The current layout was designed by Janine Mischor and flash intro made by Jake.

How can I help out?
We are always looking for fan contributions!

Where is the LOST section?
There isn’t one. Though we support Dom’s career, the focus of starDom is on Dom and not any specific project. I recommend checking out Lost-TV and Lost-Media.

Where do the pictures come from?
Please see the credits and disclaimer.

Can I use the pictures on your site?
Most of the images on the site are press and promotional images. They are copyrighted by the wire service and/or photographer and are being used without permission. If you choose to post these elsewhere, use at your own discretion. Credit is not required as the images are not mine — however stating starDom as a source is appreciated. Hotlinking is disabled so you must host the photos yourself before posting elsewhere. The fan images on this site are used with consent from the owner, please do not reproduce without their permission. The layout and intro are © starDom — DO NOT USE.

Where does the media come from?
Please see the credits and disclaimer.

Can I post the media elsewhere?
Absolutely — unless it is from the exclusives section. As the name states, these are exclusive to the site and we request they not be reposted. If despite our request you still inisit on posting them elsewhere, YOU MUST credit starDom with a link back to the site. For all other media credit is appreciated though not required — you can find the name of the source with each file. Hotlinking is disabled so you must host the media yourself before posting elsewhere.

Can’t you share high quality mpeg?
Unfortunately no — server space and bandwidth are limited. WMV allows for the lowest possible compression, even more so when zipped. This allows me to host more clips at one time, and keep the bandwidth under control.

What’s so exclusive about your ‘Exclusives’ anyway?
Dom has been kind enough to give two exclusive interviews specifically for starDom, first at Comic-con and then most recently he did a wonderful phone interview with one of our staffers about his “Happy Accidents” Photo Exhibit.

We also have access thanks to a generous anon to some raw footage interviews. Where you only see a small soundbyte in your entertainment program, we can sometimes provide the full interview. At this time, no other site is able to do so, therefore they are exclusive to starDom.

How do I download the clips?

Either click, or right click, on the download link. It will give you the option to open or save the file — choose save. Video files are in Windows Media [wmv] or Real Player [rm] format and zipped to conserve space and bandwidth.
