» ENCOUNTERS Primetime Preview Weekend     |     12 September 2004     |     Stephy So I've been to the ABC Primetime Preview Weekend event at California Adventure before. I actually went last year to see the Alias cast. When I found out that Dom was gonna be at the event this year I was soo excited! So of course I knew what I was getting myself into when I went on Sunday. I asked my best friend Sheree if she wanted to go with me and she said yes. She's not a big huge obsessive fan of Dom's like I am but she's still a fan of his. lol. So on Sunday Sheree and I decide to leave for California Adventure at like around 8:35 in the morning. Since I already knew about Dom's schedule for the day thanks to the awesome StarDom site, I knew I wanted to get there early to make it in time for the fan photo op. Of course I wanted to meet Dom again. So Sheree and I end up getting at the park around 9. I had to renew my annual pass so I got that done first. Then we headed for the entrance to California Adventure and boy were the lines long. We ended up staying in the line for about 15 mins. I was happy to see that they opened the gates early cuz the park wasn't supposed to open till 10 am. So the line moves and we make our way inside the park. Then we rush our way to the Grizzley trail cuz that's where the Fan photo op's gonna take place. And while we're on our way there, I swear you can see many more Dom fans going towards the same place also in a hurry. lol. So maybe about halfway towards the Grizzley trail, we get stopped by a Disney worker. Ends up that we still have to wait till 10 am till the park 'really' opened. I guess they opened the gates early cuz there were a lot of people waiting outside already anyway. While the time passed, the crowed kept getting bigger and bigger. So when it finally came to 10 am  and the worker lets us go, I swear the crowd just dashed towards the fan photo op location. So when we finally get there we fall in line. I swear Sheree and I made it just in time too cuz the line got cut off after us and about 2 more people. I didn't even realize it till Sheree told me. I was so happy cuz we were actually in the line where we were really gonna meet Dom! It was only 9:30 and we actually had to wait 2 more hours till we were actually gonna meet Dom. Plus what sucked was that the line was under the sun and it was soo hot. I wish I had a mini fan with me or something but I never thought to have brought one. Oh well. Anyway, while waiting in line, I notice these 2 girls that were added to the line behind us. So Sheree and I start talking to them. We find out that one of the girl's mom is actually one of the directors of 'Lost' which is soo kewl. They're really funny though. They had this big lollipop that they were gonna give to Dom. It even had Dom's face on it. lol. So while the time still passes , at about maybe 11 am I start to hear screams. So obviously when I heard that, I knew Dom was nearby. And as I had thought right, there was Dom walking on his way to the Golden Vine Winery. But he had to pass through a group of fans to get there. So you see him signing a couple of autos and taking pics which was soo nice of him to do. Of course me along with the 2 girls, were totally freaking out when we saw Dom. lol. So when it does finally roll around to 11:30, we hear all this screaming again. So all the fans in line were excited cuz we were gonna meet Dom!  I was soo excited and nervous at the same time. I was gonna give Dom these 2 buttons that I had for him too. One that was like a "Parental Advisory" logo and the other that was yellow with blue writing saying "Do you fancy me?". I soo knew that was a perfect button for him. hehe. So Sheree went before me. I still can't get over that she told Dom 'Dude you're soo hot'. And he was surprised when she told him that. What was soo funny too was he said back to her "Thanks, but I'm a bit sweaty". lol. Loved how Dom made it like a joke. hehe. > So it's finally my turn and I can feel myself shaking a bit. I was soo nervous. lol. I give my camera to one of the disney workers who takes the pics and make my way towards the cast. I walk through shaking Evangeline Lilly's hand with her saying to me "I like your pins!" (I was wearing buttons on my shirt), then Matthew Fox, then to Harold Perrineau, and then making it to Dom! When I'm in front of him, I shake his hand and while doing that he says to me "Hi! I'm Dom!" in that sexy accent of his. I giggle a bit and told him "Dom. Of course I know who you are!". Then he laughed a bit, shrugged and started to say something but the Disney worker guy was gonna take the pic already. Agh. And I also realized that I should've told him my name but forgot too. Oh well. So after the pic was taken and still having the buttons in my hand I say to Dom " Oh Dom these are for you. I know you like wearing buttons and stuff and these totally reminded me of you." After I had told him that, he stuck out his hand and said enthusiastically "Oh you got me these buttons? Thank you!" I swear he was soo happy to have gotton them too which made me happy of course. As I was leaving I pointed to the 'Do you fancy me' button and I said "This one really reminds me of you". He looked at it and laughed. And said thanks. Then we said our 'byes'. > So that was it. So Sheree and I make our way towards the Golden Dreams Amphitheater for the Lost Q and A. While waiting in line, we end up meeting the 2 girls that we met in line earlier. I wish that we went in the first section instead of the 4th section of the line cuz we ended up being in the back of the theater when we got inside. It was still ok cuz the theater wasn't that big anyway. So the cast finally comes out and when Dom's name is announced I swear the whole crowd goes crazy which isn't a big surprise. lol. The Q and A was awesome though. Dom got asked lots of questions. I really hope there will be a transcript of it or something cuz some of the stuff that was said was soo funny. Dom and Matt aka Foxy as Dom likes to call him and the whole thing about Fart Basketball just made me laugh soo hard. Too bad they didn't say what the game's about and Dom just told us to 'leave it to your imaginations'. hehe. Oh and what was awesome was that the 2 girls we met and who were also sitting right next to us had asked Dom a question about ' If he ever considered becoming a vegetarian' and which to his reply was 'Yeah I did actually consider being a vegetarian but I love eating flesh.'. Everyone laughed. Kudos to the host for asking each cast member if they're single or dating. Loved Dom's answer "I'm married to the business'. lmao. And poor Dommie cuz he told us that he had an ear infection. Poor thing. There's more things from the Q and A I'd like to add, but I'll just talk about it at the Dom board. You know I really felt bad for the other 3 cast members too cuz everyone was basically there for Dom and sometimes they'd just get ignored. Man poor guys. > So after all that was over Sheree and I said bye to the 2 girls cuz they were gonna go ride some rides and we were gonna go eat lunch. So we make our way to the Grand Californian Hotel to go eat at a lil snack place they have there where the food's a lil  cheaper then the food inside the park. After eating we decided to go to the hotel lobby cuz we knew that Dom along with the other abc stars were staying there. We waited for about 10 minutes. After Dom was a no show we just decided to go on the Tower of Terror ride since both of us never been on it. And we just kinda gave up on our search for Dom. So while we were on our way towards the backlot of the park where the ride is, we end up seeing like a group of people taking pictures. We were thinking it might be some disney character or something, so we still keep walking. Then all of a sudden Sheree yells to me "OMG! Steph it's Dom!" Then I said "Where?" I couldn't see him cuz there were some people covering him. And also the reason why I couldn't see him was because he wasn't wearing his long sleeved shirt anymore, he was just wearing a plain white shirt So then Sheree pulls my bag along with me and we start racing towards Dom and some of the people surrounding him. lol. So we just end up following Dom to wherever he's going which I later find out is to the entrance to the Grand Californian Hotel that's near the Grizzley trail. It ends up that Dom had just finished shopping at the Off the Page store. That's why there were people waiting outside. lol. > But I swear it was crazy though. I swear it's like Dom's a magnet or something. Every place we passed by at least one girl would see him and start following him also. lol. It even looked like the girls were like his entourage. lol. But  everyone was trying to get his attention too. Of course I kept taking pics of Dom. hehe. And also I was looking at his bag and I can see what it is that he bought from the store. I noticed that it was a Halloween costume of Jack Skellington! Hmmm. So looks like he's dressing up for Halloween this year. hehe. So while still walking, Sheree kept yelling his name so we could get a pic with him. One girl already stopped to take a pic with him. Then he started on his way again. Then Sheree yelled his name again and we finally caught up to him. I asked him if I could take a pic with him and he said "Sure!". It ended up that I got 2 pics taken with Dom! One on Sheree's camera and the other on mine! It  was something I wasn't  expecting and didn't mean to do. It just happened. So yeah there's a pic of Dom and me with both of us wearing our shades. hehe. Then after Sheree got her pic taken, both which of ours were taken by this one girl. Thanks to whomever it was! I felt really bad though cuz all of us were taking turns taking pix with Dom and I can see that he didn't look well. I think his ear infection got worse. That was probably why he was on his way back to the hotel to rest. So we still follow him back to the entrance of the hotel where he still ends up taking more pics with fans and actually talking to someone's mom on the phone! After taking one last pic with a fan he says "Alright guys. I gotta go." Then he makes his way inside, with me hearing a fan saying "Bye Dom!" and him saying "Bye" back. And that was the last time I saw Dom and it was all over. After Sheree and I finally went on the Tower of Terror ride. lol. Loved it too. Then later on that night, Sheree and I did go to the Lost screening at the AMC theatres at Downtown Disney and loved every minute of it! The pilot rocked! > I swear that was one of the best days of my life. I mean meeting Dom at the Comic-Con was awesome but this day was just soo perfect. Yeah I was dehydrated, hot, sunburned and tired when I got home, but seeing Dom and getting to meet him again was sooo worth it. I would do it all over again if I could. I couldn't ask for anything more. And Dom is such a sweetie. I know he wasn't feeling well, but just to think that he still took pics with fans and all that just makes me love him even more. He didn't have to but he did, you know? He loves his fans that much. I will forever always cherish this day. And now with seeing pics of Dom on the internet from the abc ppw event, I see him wearing the "Do you fancy me?" button I gave him! That just makes me the happiest person ever! Can't believe he's wearing the button I gave him! Soo awesome! Now that just makes my day(s) even more now.
