» ENCOUNTERS Mardi Gras     |     22 February 2004     |     Kelley Hello. My name is Kelley and I am the luckiest girl in the world. Here's my story about why persistance pays off. We got to the Convention Center at 6:45 after about 2 hours of traffic. We quickly opened the drinks. I had gotten texts from renoir_girl and talked to jenngamgee (who's voice is adorable) beforehand and knew Sean wouldn't be there. By the time the floats rolled, I was over it and drunk enough to have an awesome time. Elijah's float went around twice. He looked like he was having a blast. He was blowing kisses and waving to everyone. Totally cool. But my pictures are horrid. It's all one big blur of lights. We watched the next four floats before I saw that Elijah was up at the King's Platform already. I grabbed mom and we ran like hell to the platform. You had to have a band to get in, which we obviously didn't. But right outside were three girls who were there for Lijah as well. I made fast friends with one, and together we stayed out the whole night. It was difficult to see from where we were, but about five minutes after I got there, Elijah was making out with two girls. O.o I assume he was tipsy. Anyhow, we watched on for a while when Harry Lee (the sherrif) came down and saw me holding pictures. He brought my three Elijah ones up to him. So there was the first good thing of the night. Not one, but three autographs. Me and my new friend got chummy with the cop who was gaurding the gate. I think he figured we would go away after a while, but we stayed. He finally let us go up to take pictures one at a time for a few minutes. I went second and brought my cameras. I took a few pictures which was very difficult because people were moving everywhere. Elijah was smoking and drinking, but obviously having a blast. He kissed Hannah (who looked amazing) on the head when I was up there. I kinda smiled at him and he waved back at me in the most adorable way imaginable and smiled back. Score two. The cop let us each go back up one time, so I got a few more blurry pictures. Then he let some other girl up there who was hanging on the bars. This obviously ticked someone off, and we were no longer allowed to go up there. People snuck up the whole time, but we waited patiently. After a while, we went to go look because Lijah was dancing or something. When we looked, Dom had just walked past us and up to the stage. We were about to kill ourselves. He went up to the stage and was signing things and just being generally awesome. We sat from our corner and watched. A little later the cop says "Merry just left. Did you see?" Somehow we had missed Dom again and were about to kill ourselves once again. However, he just went out for a second. When he came back I nudged my friend and squeaked "Dom!" I had a picture of the whole cast with me, so I took my Sharpie and went up to him. "Dom!" "Yeah?" "Could you please sign this for me." "Yeah, sure. Wow. You came prepared. That's awesome." "Yeah..." "What's your name?" "Kelly." "Okay, cool." To which he signed "Kelly Be Merry!" and his name. My friend got him to sign her RotK ticket and she said "Can I shake your hand?" to which he not only shook her hand, but hugged her as well. I kinda squeaked a bit and managed "Me, too?" to which he hugged me. I didn't get pictures, but one of the guys there did. So I don't have that yet. Score three. By the way, Dom is totally awesome. His voice is killer, he smells amazing, and he's the sweetest guy you could ever meet. Plus he's amazingly cute, which had managed to escape me before this. I spazzed for a while. He didn't have anything writen on his hands, which you should be able to see from the pictures I did get. A little while later he came down again. I took pictures. Some girl said "Can I have a kiss?" which he did. To which I, once again, squeaked "Me, too?!" To which he did. And ohmigod I almost died. I mean, I didn't expect Dom to go at all, and I freaking kissed him (which was amazing...mixture of soft lips and stubble=nggh). My friend said "Have fun tomorrow." He said "Are you guys coming?" We nodded. I said "I'll bring a sign, okay?" He said "Great! I'll throw you lots of stuff" and smirked. <3 Major score whatever number. He came down twice more and posed for pictures. At this point we had given up hope on Elijah and were totally thrilled about how amazing Dom was. The second cop a little while later said "Do you want me to get Elijah to sign the group shot, too?" Duh. Yes, please!! So now I have Dom and Elijah's on one page. Totally awesome. He also took our cameras up and took pictures, none of which I have on my camera, as I gave him mom's. He said Elijah (or rather, Elijah's manager) was getting annoyed. So we kinda sat down and figured the night was done for us. But Elijah hadn't left yet, so we stayed. Harry Lee came down around 2:30. He looked at us and said "Are you still here?!" to which we replied "About five hours now, yes." We hadn't eaten or moved. We probably looked pretty pitable. He looked at us and said "come with me." He took us up to the King Platform, tapped Elijah and said "These girls have been waiting to see you for five hours." We waved and blushed. He looked stunned that we would be waiting for him and more than a little drunk. None the less, we each got a picture with him and hugged him. Totally awesome. Elijah smells nice, too, for those of you who told me to find out. Not as amazing as Dom, but then Elijah had been partying for hours, so all things considered wow. So we were getting escorted off and I managed to squeak "I stopped biting my nails for you." (okay, I really wanted to say that leave me alone) He held his up and went "I still bite mine" and kinda smirked and shrugged. Totally adorable. (And, yeah, he does. They look like hell. lol) So I hugged Elijah and got to talk to him. Wow. I had given up on this. He left about ten minutes later, after which we all left, too. He's really adorable. And nice, though totally drunk. Moral of story: Persistance pays off, Dom rocks, and Elijah is adorable.
