Comic-Con     |     24 July 2004     |     Angelus

So, Saturday was my first day. We had gotten our passes the day before to beat the lines. But the Comic-Con people wouldn't let us in. We knew where we had to go, we just couldn't get there. The room we wanted was 6DEFG. It was in the same part of the building as registration. I had 2 of my people stand in the long, long line to get to the exhibit hall and that would let everyone into the area we needed to be in. The line was by room 20. We had seen room 20 many times trying to figure out which way to go. People were already in line for room 20 to see The Simpson's' creator and writers.

Finally the other 2 and I decided to pretend that we didn't have passes to go up the way we needed. When we got to the top we pulled out our passes and they let us in. Success!!!! We walked quickly with an occasional run to get to the room. We get seats 3rd from the front. We sit there for awhile. A lady comes to the microphone. "If you are here for the Lost panel, it has been moved to room 20." Everyone gets out of the seats and starts running! We ran too. We get to room 20 and now we are about 5th from the front and also to the side. My other 2 people eventually join us after escaping the line-of-doom.

The executive producer comes out and reads something from J.J. Abrams cuz he couldn't be there. Then he presents us with Lost.

Lost seems to have gotten a hold of me. Dom's character, Charlie is a little
cheeky. Matthew Fox did a great job in the pilot. I thought his acting was great. The first few times Dom appeared on screen girls screamed. It got a bit annoying after awhile. I guess that's why they stopped. Like J.J. Abrams' other show, Alias, this one ended on a cliff hanger. Bastards! After the screening, the executive producer came out and introduced the writers (yay! David Fury!) and then the cast. I believe Dom was last. Not positive. Most of the questions were towards Dom. He gave short answers. Nothing really to quote him with.

After the panel they said they would be signing posters at the inkworks table. Goody! Oh wait! You need a bloody, orange ticket to get autographs. I just want Dominic to sign my CD. I don't want a signed poster! My friend Jen and I stand in line, with no ticket. The girl in front of us doesn't have a ticket as well. We become friends. We aren't too far back in the line. We think if people want autographs so bad they should get in line before us! We try and we fail. I pick up 5 unsigned posters. We wish we had some orange paper to make fake tickets. The friend we made reappears. She has orange paper. Yippy! I ask one guy in line to show me what size the ticket is. He does. I start ripping. As I'm doing this, I'm complaining about this stupid ticket thing. The guy who showed me his ticket pulls out an extra one and our new friend takes it. She got it fair and square. I continue to rip. Jen doesn't want to try with a fake ticket so I'm the only one with a fake one. I stand behind our new friend in line and wait to see if I can get away with this. The first person who checks tickets is a few feet away. I decide to fold the paper, so she won't see the writing on the other side. Safe! I get through the first check point.

Next is the lady who collects the tickets. Please don't let her notice. I take a few pictures of Dom cuz I've never been this close. I'm next. I notice that when she was collecting the other tickets she wasn't looking at them. Please let her not look at mine. My turn. I hand her the fake. She takes it and lets me go!!! Great! Now to get Dom to sign my CD. "Dom, can you sign my CD?" "No, he can't!!!" It was an evil lady making sure fans didn't really get what they wanted. I say, "That kinda sucks!" They sign the poster. I am unable to make eye contact with Dom. I am unable of saying anything to Dom. I think I might've been starring at his hand signing the poster but I don't remember. As I'm about to go, I am able to say something.... to David Fury. "Fury, you're a better golfer than Goddard!" He laughed. I left, feeling stupid. I didn't say anything to Dom! Nothing! Zip, nada! I shame myself!

Sunday came and I felt better because I got to see the Firefly crew and Joss. Joss makes me feel better. I just wish I said something to Dom.
