LOST star Dominic Monaghan warmed up for the Emmy Awards by downing Mojito cocktails with co-star Jorge Garcia.
Brit Dominic plays drug addict musician Charlie Pace in the Channel 4 show, which won the Best Drama gong at the Emmys in LA.
He joked that Jorge - who plays loveable Hurley Reyes - had been a bad influence on him.
The actor, best known as Merry the hobbit in Lord of the Rings, said: "I drove in with Jorge, we spent 45 mins drinking Mojitos in the limo.
"So I've got a little bit of a buzz going on.
"But I'm nearly 30, I can't party anymore, I want to go home to bed!"
Dominic also flaunted the habit he shares with Coldplay frontman Chris Martin - the scribblings on his hand.
He had the number 1703 daubed in black ink on his hand and said: "It's Jorge's room number."
Although he went through a troubled time after filming the Lord of the Rings trilogy when he couldn't find a job, Dominic said: "I'm not doing too badly for a guy from Manchester.
"After the Rings I always felt like the industry wasn't quite sure what to do with me, I felt like a lead actor trapped in a character actor's body.
"I was looking for a part that was going to show what I could do and Charlie's messed up. It was important to me play someone different.
"He's a drug addict, which means I'm learning a lot of things about myself while discovering this character - as soon as I stop learning about my character or myself then I'll move on."
As one of the Brit stars on the red carpet, Dominic joked: "I'm trying to keep it real.
"I haven't lost my accent, I'm trying to keep it there - although a lot of Americans think I'm from Australia or South Africa when I couldn't be further away.
"My parents are really happy for me back home, they enjoy the show. But I'm the only actor in the family and they're just as proud of my brother Matthew, who's a teacher, as of me."
The diminutive actor then spilled the beans about series two of Lost, saying: "Charlie's got to struggle after finding a bunch of heroin on the island and Claire's new baby is a huge factor."
Dominic declined to talk about his private life - although he was quick to join girlfriend and co-star Evangeline Lilly in the auditorium.
"So many celebrities are happy to talk about their private lives, but I never will, it just seems odd to me."
But it seems Evangeline might have a rival. Dominic said: "I wouldn't mind bringing Angelina Jolie on to the island." [ source: sun online ] |
