» ARCHIVES Lost stars blame city     |     13 July 2005 Ask Dominic Monaghan and Evangeline Lilly, stars of the hit TV show Lost, and they'll tell you straight out - Sydney is to blame. It is this Australian city from which the show's characters hop aboard an aeroplane bound for Los Angeles. The plane eventually crashes on a mystery island. Monaghan, famous for playing a hobbit in the Lord of the Rings trilogy, plays drug-addled rocker Charlie Rose in Lost. He says that the connection between Sydney and their fate is impossible to ignore. "You're responsible, it's your fault," the star told Confidential yesterday. "Is there something in Sydney that is the reason why this flight ended up on the island? "Did a mastermind sit in a hotel in Sydney and plan it all?" he said. Australia is the last stop on a whirlwind Lost promotional tour for the duo. Off camera, the pair is rumoured to be dating. But they both refused to either confirm or deny press speculation yesterday. "If you start confirming or denying anything the press writes, you're giving them leverage to talk about your personal life," Lilly said. Monaghan, however, admits to being "really charmed" on first meeting his co-star. "Here I was chatting with someone who didn't have an awful amount of experience in the world but was really into it, as opposed to a jaded actor who was bored with it all." Lilly, who plays the role of Kate - a shady, possibly murderous bank robber - is keen to ramp up the character's attitude. "I want to be more bitch," the actress said. Monaghan fans can squeeze their heads to the glass at Channel 7's Martin Place headquarters this morning to catch a glimpse of the star on Sunrise.
